Samek Art Gallery Exhibits
The Samek Art Gallery will host three exhibitions beginning Friday, Oct. 23. "Splendor: West African Art from the Collection of Alfred Prince, Part 1," focuses on the human figure represented in carved wooden figures and masks in a variety of materials; "Epic Painting," large-scale paintings by Ali Banisadr, Charles Browning, Robert Colescott, Julie Heffernan, Laurie Hogin and Nicky Nodjoumi; and "Jiang Lu and Chen Pu: Journey," focuses on works on paper by two Tianjin-based contemporary artists. The Humanities Institute Series: Concepts in Context - Excavating Ancient Aegean Culture.
Bucknell is proud and honored to be hosting John McK. Camp II, Director of Excavations at the Athenian Agora Excavations in Athens, Greece, and Niarchos Professor of Classics at Randolph-Macon College in VA.  Dr. Camp is director of the Agora Excavations in Athens, the longest continuing excavation in Greece. The Agora (or "marketplace") of ancient Athens was the center of economic, social, and intellectual life, as well as the birthplace of democracy. Dr. Camp has worked in the Athenian Agora since 1966 and in 1994 he became the excavation director. During the past two decades Dr. Camp has developed into one of the leading authorities in Athenian and Classical archaeology. He has written numerous articles and has recently authored two books on the archaeological history of Athens and the Agora: The Archaeology of Athens and The Athenian Agora: Excavations in the Heart of Classical Athens.

Morning program (Larison Hall): Welcome by President Brian C. Mitchell. Alumni guest speakers will set the tone of the day by reflecting on their Bucknell experience relative to the 125 theme: Equality, Excellence, Interdependence. A multimedia presentation to capture the physical and social aspects of campus life based upon interviews with alumni, faculty, staff and students.
Breakout Panels (various locations): Paving their Own Way: Entrepreneurship: This panel will showcase the creativity and ingenuity of some of our graduates who have been successful entrepreneurs.  Work-Life Fit - Negotiation at work and within relationships to create and support a healthy balance between our professional and personal lives, with a focus relative to today’s climate.
