Bucknell Public Interest Program
The Bucknell Public Interest Program consists of alumni, faculty, and administrators working together to educate students about careers in the nonprofit and public service sectors. BPIP supports events and programs throughout the year to give students opportunities to learn about these sectors of the economy and to network with alumni. It hosts the DC Career Fair in early March, a Bucknellians in Government event in the summer, and offers other networking events both on and off campus. The Capitol Hill Internship Program is a part of BPIP.
BPIP offers two internship opportunities for undergraduates.
The BPIP Internship Fund is a summer internship program that provides a stipend of $2500 for selected students who are able to secure unpaid internships in the nonprofit and public service sectors. It is open to first year students, sophomores, and juniors. Funding for the BPIP Internship Fund comes primarily from alumni, parents, and friends of the University. The number of candidates accepted into the program each year varies depending on the amount of contributions received. The selection process is competitive. In 2009, 29 students received BPIP Internship Fund stipends; a list of recipients can be seen at this link, 2009 BPIP Internship Fund Recipients. The application deadline for the academic year 2009-2010 is March 22, 2010.
The Capitol Hill Internship Program is open to all undergraduates, including graduating seniors. The program is funded by the Office of External Relations and supports 8 internships per summer. The application process is competitive, and a list of recipients can be seen at this link, 2009 Capitol Hill Internship Program fund recipients. The application deadline for the academic year 2009-2010 is December 1, 2009.
